New CultureCandy site is live…

It’s been a long time coming (more than 2 years since I became personally involved with the effort), but CultureCandy, the Baton Rouge-based arts organization finally has a new web site. There’s still some rough spots to smooth out and some polish to add, but it’s alive and kicking. Thanks to CovalentLogic for contributing the graphic design and a lot of the user interface design also. Along with a more pleasing aesthetic, the new look and feel also lays a better foundation for a whole slew of improvements I’ve been scheming on. Look for them to start coming around the first of summer.

Having spent too many evenings indoors on the computer to get that out the door, it’s time for a break. This weekend has me in NOLA for a college friend’s bachelor party, and what should be a grand reunion of a lot of old cohorts, kicking off with what I hope will be a pretty afternoon at the race track for the Louisiana Derby. And it’s only a few short weeks until Louisiana’s music festival season gets into gear. I can already taste my JazzFest soft-shell crab po-boy. Laissez les…

  2. There’s a homemade CMS for most of the pages using basic MVC functionality. WordPress runs the ‘News’ section. I’m getting ready to redo the homemade stuff with an ORM. Probably will use Doctrine.
