A little less than a year ago a new mom and pop fried chicken joint opened up on Nicholson not too far from where I work. I’d planned on giving it a try at some point, as Baton Rouge isn’t near the fried chicken town that Jackson is (oh Two Sisters, I miss you and your buffet so…). The idea of trying out some fried chicken that was something other than the corporate chain variety was something I was looking forward to.
That is, until I drove by the other day and saw this sign:

Not much to report really. Since Sunday’s Saint’s game in New Orleans, I’ve been prepping and resting up for the last big road trip of the year. E and I, plus Wgo and Wrestlerette are taking a 3 day weekend to go to Lucky’s wedding shin-dig up in Oxford Towne. One of the few big minuses in moving down to Baton Rouge has been my loss of proximity to Oxford. This is my first trip back there since moving Deeper South and I’m beyond excited at the idea of a chilly evening out around the Square, an afternoon in a hushed corner of Square Books, and a visit to Rowan Oak. And that’s before I even contemplate all the hometown and undergraduate friends that will be in attendance. It will be a high-flying weekend, for sure.
I am no fan of pet-centric blogs, websites, etc, and really thought I would have made it further than 2 posts before caving in to even a hint of such myself. But somethings are too good to pass up, especially when there’s a bad pun to go along with it (but are there good puns, or are puns better the worse they are?).
So, what do you get when Buster J thinks you’ve spent too much time on the computer for the day, but you’re still sitting on the couch, computer in your lap, finishing up that overtime work you brought home with you? (more…)
