"…and not for five minutes will I be distracted from the wonder…"

howdy all…i’m back from the great northeast…had a blast hanging with family and experiencing true fall weather…pics to come in the next day or two…important note…alan runyan has sent out the following email concerning getting plone invited to comdex to preach the gospel of open source software…

“I have spent the last 2 years working on a software product that is aimed at making managing information much easier for non-techies. We just had a conference of 150 persons and won a contract to provide Oxfam with a new version of their intranet/website. I prefer working with NGO’s and Non-profits but where the real money is: corpoations. The funded work we do for them goes back into the Plone project where all NGO’s and Non-profits (and all people using the system) will benefit. We are a fairly small project (compared to some of the larger systems up for the vote) and need everyone to help us in any way they can. So if you can take ~5 minutes of your time to sign up, and vote for ‘Plone’ (you don’t need to vote for anyone else) I would greatly appreciate it.

Please send this around to all Millsapians, Jacksonites, Geeks, ex-Lovers, Artists, Professors, Activists, NRA Members, Book-of-the-Month subscribers or anyone else you know.

Ultimately using open source software saves the tax payers (us) money. In financial straits it has forced the governor of Texas and Hawaii to move to Plone to manage their websites.

If Plone wins I will be able to go to Comdex and explain to corporate America why open source is a good proposition. And since corporate America is so intertwined with our government we might be able to show the government the cost benefits.”

whether you know runyan or of plone, do a honkie a favor and go and vote for them to attend comdex…
