politics and football…

i watched the debate @ soulshine last night and thoroughly enjoyed myself…political rhetoric is a lot more tolerable when you’ve got beer, pizza and friends around…i sat next to pate calhoun and his wife for the entirety of the debate…he’s voting for bush and i enjoyed getting to hear his opinions on how the whole thing went down…i eschew party labels but lean to the left on most things, so we had some differences in opinion to discuss…

the jfp and collective were putting on a youth voting rally in the backroom @ hal and mal’s @ the same time and it was well attended…naturally with the jfp/collective heading it up the attendance swung largely to the left, but there were some righties there too…overall i think the most important message, that you should vote, was clear…sided propaganda, while present, appeared fairly moot to me…

i thought kerry really made a strong showing in the debate…i don’t think bush looked so hot…i’m curious to see if he can continue chanting that as long as you are resolute, it doesn’t really matter what decision you’ve made, and win the election…aside from who ‘won’ or ‘lost’ that debate i’m excited that people want to hear more…the common idea is that the first debate is closely watched and the rest aren’t…i don’t think that will be the case this time around…

my ‘over 21’ bracelet from last night has purple and gold diamonds on it, so i’ve left it on…LSU plays georgia tomorrow and i’m already getting nervous about it…having watched the tigers lose to auburn @ my house here in jackson 2 weeks ago, i’ve decided to go down to baton rouge for the weekend and watch the game with blythe, who, along with her neighbors, is planning a big courtyard party before, during and after the game…i feel much more comfortable watching big games when i’m @ the emotional epicenter of the LSU faithful…if it’s a home game i’m @ the game…if it’s an away game then i think my best bet is to be in baton rouge…if anything i’ve got a whole city as pissed off as i am to drown my sorrows with if we lose…and if we win…what a night it will be…
