Wow. A lot has gone down in the last 3 hours.
It’s with a great deal of excitement and with more than a slight tinge of
sadness that I can report that I will be moving to Baton Rouge within the next
month. I’ve landed a job with a really good web design firm called Kfx2
located down there. They do good work, including sites and graphics for
LSU and are really keen on open source software and programming, which
is a huge plus. Also, as many of you know, I’m a rabid LSU fan, so
being at Ground Zero of the Bayou Bengal’s madness will be a treat for
Having said that, I’d also like to tell all of you here in Jackson how much
I will miss you. Especially my man Bobby, partner in crime at the LemuriaBooks.com.
There has been no better nor dearer friend to me here in Jackson for the last
3 years. And to all the rest of you, especially the Wrecking Crew: kickin’
it with you guys the last year and a half will always be some of my fondest
memories of Jackson. What I can remember, that is.
Aside from missing my days with Bobby at Lemuria, I will
particularly miss the bookstore in its own right. As I said in my
I have really enjoyed the three years that I have spent here at the bookstore
and part of me feels that I could work the rest of my life here surrounded
by the outstanding camaraderie and atmosphere of books, authors and knowledge
that this bookstore fosters. At the same time there is also a part of me that
knows an opportunity of this caliber does not happen by very often and that
I must jump to take it when it does.
Before we get all teary-eyed, though, I guess we should keep in mind I’m only
3 hours down I-55 and I will be no stranger to the Bold New City (save during
college football season).
I could fill pages and pages with what Jackson means to me (and maybe one
day I will) but let it suffice for now just to say that this city is, and always
will be, my home.
